About Lord Swaminarayan

Lord Swaminarayan, also popularly addressed as Shri Hari, Sahajananad Swami, or Bhagwan Swaminarayan, is the highest manifestation of the Purna Purshottam Naryan, The Supreme God. Several scriptures in Hinduism have documented the prediction centuries ago that the Supreme Lord will manifest in Kalyug. On 3rd April 1781 at 10:10 pm, a celestial child was born in a small village called Chhapaiya, near Ayodhya. Born into the Brahmin caste of Sarvariya, Swaminarayan was named Ghanshyam Pande by his parents, Hariprasad Pande (father, also known as Dharmadev) and Premvati Pande (mother, also known as Bhaktimata and Murtidevi). The birth of celestial Lord Swaminarayan coincided with the Hindu festival of Rama Navami, celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. The ninth lunar day in the fortnight of the waxing moon in the month of Chaitra is celebrated as both Rama Navami and Swaminarayan Jayanti.
